The invitation to the event was sent to the CRA following a working meeting held earlier at the Almaty City Development Centre, during which the current environmental challenges facing the metropolis were discussed, as well as possible formats for interaction between city institutions and representatives of the civil and expert communities.
Environmental issues and air quality in Almaty are the focus of attention at the state level. The head of state has repeatedly emphasised in his speeches that ensuring a favourable ecological environment, including reducing air pollution in large cities, is one of the priorities of sustainable development and directly affects the quality of life of citizens. The need for systemic solutions based on data, modern technologies and cross-sectoral cooperation was also highlighted.
The participation of CRA representatives in the Almaty Air Initiative event was a logical continuation of the dialogue that had begun and reflects the Centre's desire to contribute to the formation of a balanced and long-term environmental agenda for the city. The Almaty City Development Centre is open to cooperation with relevant foundations and expert organisations and considers such platforms to be an important tool for discussing, analysing and developing comprehensive solutions in the field of ecology and urban development.
