Restoration work is currently underway at the site. The building's exterior façade, stage, and auditorium are being completely modernized. A new additional facility is also under construction on the theater grounds. This project expands the cultural center's capabilities and opens a small stage and a 220-seat auditorium in the new building.
One of the main concerns raised by public opinion regarding the project is the fate of the mosaics on the building's façade. However, there is no cause for concern. The mosaics are being preserved and restored. Currently, the layer of paint applied in the 2000s is being removed, and its original historical appearance is being recreated.
Yuri Funkorine, one of the mosaic's creators, has been brought in for the restoration work. This ensures historical accuracy is maintained. It is worth noting that these artistic panels exist not only on the exterior façade but also throughout the building's interior. All of them are being carefully restored in stages.
Overall, the project aims to create an infrastructure that meets modern requirements while preserving the cultural heritage. Once the restoration work is completed, the theatre will reopen its doors to the city's residents, while preserving its historical appearance.
