Today, a working meeting was held at the Almaty City Development Center JSC with Abai Alpamyzov, President of the National Basketball Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, they discussed the possibility of holding various sporting events in Almaty, ranging from city tournaments and mass festivals to educational and social initiatives aimed at promoting basketball among children and young people.

Special emphasis was placed on the fact that this year marks the 100th anniversary of basketball in Kazakhstan. As part of the anniversary celebrations, a series of events is being considered in the southern capital with the participation of the professional community, sports veterans, coaches, and young athletes.

The president of the federation emphasized that basketball is one of the most popular and dynamically developing sports in the country today, especially in Almaty, where sports schools are traditionally strong, youth leagues are active, and there is high interest from the city's residents.

Separately, representatives of the Almaty City Development Center noted that this year marks the 90th anniversary of the Almalinsky, Zhetysu, and Medeu districts of the city. In this regard, the possibility of organizing a large-scale sports festival with an emphasis on basketball was discussed, which could bring together district teams, youth leagues, amateur groups, and city residents.

The dialogue also highlighted the potential for developing inclusive basketball. Formats for events involving people with special needs are being considered, which will expand access to sport and create a more open and equal urban environment. Basketball can become one of the most effective platforms for promoting the principles of inclusion and social integration.

Abai Abdisametovich expressed his willingness to support his hometown and promote joint initiatives aimed at developing sports infrastructure, promoting mass and inclusive sports, and fostering a culture of active lifestyles among Almaty residents.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working on the concept of events within the framework of the anniversary year and to expand cooperation on the development of the city's sports agenda.
